For the last 7 years, Richard has been assisting firms in the areas of litigation support, market positioning, and mergers and acquisitions. He has been a testifying expert on several RMBS and trustee-based litigation matters.
During the same period, Richard was President, Chief Revenue Officer and Founding Partner of HousingWire, the nation's most influential source of news and information for U.S. mortgage markets, with a readership that spans lending, servicing, investments and real estate market participants as well as financial market professionals. HousingWire has won numerous awards, including a 2012 Eddie Award for national editorial excellence, and has been recognized for excellence in journalism by the Society of Business Editors and Writers, the American Society of Business Press Editors, the National Association of Real Estate Editors, and Trade Association Business Publications International.
In 2000, Richard started a subprime wholesale mortgage company, which he sold after 5 years, a year before the housing collapse, believing the risk model had become unsustainable. Prior to that, Richard worked in training, business development and sales for the mortgage divisions of GE and GM.
In 2007 Richard published “Confessions of a Subprime Lender: An Insider's Tale of Greed, Fraud and Ignorance”, the first book to market that covered the housing collapse. Richard has made regular media appearances, including on CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg, Fox News, the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Larry King Live.
Richard holds a Master of Professional Studies in Communication from Cornell University and a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations from Northern Arizona University.
